The idea of atheists believing in ghosts appears paradoxical to the definition of atheism. The term “atheist” describes an individual who does not believe in the existence of Gods or supernatural beings. Basically, the presumption by atheists is that the most logical conclusions are those with the strongest evidential support. Most atheists argue that the evidence in favor of the existence of the supernatural is too weak, or that arguments favoring the nonexistence of the supernatural is more compelling.

Yet how does one discard one form of supernatural belief (e.g., gods) but accepts another form of supernatural belief (i.e., ghosts) without self-contradiction or hypocrisy?
