How has COVID-19 Challenged Traditional Approaches to Religion and Science?

Religion and the COVID-19 Virus in the U.S.

COVID-19 has already accentuated interesting changes within the religious community. Everything from faith healing to religious gatherings have changed as a result of COVID-19. ³

Greater trust or interest in medical science by religious leaders has become the subject of interest as COVID-19 has taken center stage in recent months. For some, COVID-19 has created a psychological "Fork in the Road" which divides their trust in religiously-inspired traditional remedies (e.g., prayer healing, folk medicine) and modern medicine. ² For others, COVID-19 has transformed the way they practice religion altogether, and has given them newfound outlooks on the importance of science in their daily lives. ¹

With entire congregations falling ill, and churches now adhering to World Health Organization guidelines on face coverings, social distancing and an end to mass gatherings, have traditional approaches to religion and science finally reached a tipping point? Where does the data seem to be leading? What do you believe will be the outcome?
