Are there Gnostic branches to most religions?
Gnostics are known to be free thinkers within religions and use the esoteric parts that most religions have within their ideologies. Even the bible has retained a few of the more Eastern mystic esoteric teachings which the scribes have put in one of the Jesus' mouths.
Gnostic Christians, like Cathars for instance, still considered themselves as Christians.
In fact, they thought themselves to be the only good Christians. Christianity with their inquisitions may just have proven the Gnostic Cathars correct, depending on if you see inquisitions as anathema to a good religion.
